Quiller Debbie Arnold creates traditional, and modern quilled art pieces. She enjoys teaching quilling, and especially enjoys seeing what other people create with the basic instructions given to them. Debbie says there are so many possibilities from one simple coiled shape. She never gets tired of trying new things or finding new ways to recreate the old. Because she enjoys gardening, she was originally attracted to the floral shapes. She still enjoys the florals, but also enjoys quilling sea shells, butterflies, birds, and anything organic in nature. Debbie is a member of the North American Quilling Guild(NAQG), and attends quilling conferences to share and learn from other quillers. She has been teaching quilling for about 10 years.
Shawna Spurdle is a University of Delaware graduate, studied in marketing and art/advertising. She grew up loving to draw and use lines and shading to portray emotions and capture the beauty of people. She did not begin her journey in painting until college, where she discovered the medium of oil. She loved the way the oil paints mixed, the patience it required, and the depth it conveyed in her work. Continuing to pursue and refine her skill, Shawna began adding water color to her repertoire. Contrasting with oil, the gentle and translucent characteristics of water color captured her imagination and curiosity. She was fascinated by the way the layers danced with the paper, and the way the water was so commanding and yet fickle. Today, Shawna continues to cultivate her skills in watercolor, and expresses her experience with the medium as a relaxing adventure unfolding. She hopes to share her love for the medium through her work, and encourage others to begin their adventure with it as well.
